Valentines Day Love Bug Craft Tips
*For this craft you will need to trace and cut out your baby or child’s handprints. You will need four total hand prints.
*To make your baby’s hand prints with paper quicker you can stack 4 pieces of paper on top of each other, trace one hand print, and cut them all out stacked to make things easier.
*You can also choose to paint your child’s hand print and stamp it on a piece of paper as well. This will look more detailed but is often times harder, especially with younger children.
*You can use any colors of paper desired. Reds, pinks, light purples, and light blues look the most festive for the season. However, black and red look great together too and make it look more like a ladybug.
Valentine’s Day Handprint Lovebug Craft for Kids
Materials
- Red, pink, black, purple, white, and blue construction paper
- Black pencil or pen
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Googly eyes
Directions:
1. Trace and cut out your child’s handprint on white construction paper four times.
2. Cut out a large red or pink heart shape and much smaller hearts from red, blue, purple, and pink construction paper. Use one of the free printable heart shapes from onelittleproject if you need a template.
3. Glue two of the handprints down to each side of the large heart shape, overlapping the pinky fingers ever so slightly.
4. Glue smaller hearts all over the large heart to look like spots on the bug.
5. Add googly eyes and a smile near the top of the large heart.
6. Add on two small white rectangles to the top of the heart for the base of the antennae. Glue them onto the back. Add a small heart on top of each skinny rectangle to complete them.
