Ways to Use a hot Cocoa Sensory Bin with Kids

*If completing this hot chocolate sensory bin with older children you can include the free printable hot chocolate recipe templates. Each recipe includes a number of items for them to put in each cup of hot cocoa. This will help with number recognition skills as well as reading directions.

Children will love following the recipes and handing out hot cocoa to everyone. You can even add in fake money and have them take orders and pay and make change with their hot chocolate.

Toddlers and preschoolers will love simply making the hot chocolate with the items in the bin. Turn it into a hot chocolate shop, a sensory bin for play,  or even a fun-themed winter snack they can play with.

*Older babies and young toddlers will love scooping, pouring, tasting, smelling, and more. Just give them cups, scoops, and spoons and let them go to town.

*A few of the items included could be choking hazards if your baby doesn’t have enough teeth (marshmallows, chocolate chips, candy cane). Only include items that your baby can put in their mouth safely. That may mean just giving them a bin of cocoa krispies if needed.
