Paper Plate Heart Wreath Tips for Success

*When making this fun paper plate craft, you will need to start by cutting the inside circle out of a paper plate. We like to use the ones where the edges are not as high (the very traditional picnic paper plates) as these are the easiest to get the paper hearts to stick to. To cut the middle out, you will need to gently poke a hole in with a pencil or the end of the scissors, and then cut around the inner circle

*You can choose to make a traditional Valentine’s colored wreath with red, white, and pink hearts. Other light colored pastel hearts, like a pastel purple or blue, also look great and festive.

*You can finish off your heart wreath craft by using heart stickers, foam heart stickers for dimension, glitter in different colors, markers to write the work love or conversation heart words on the hearts, and more.

Valentine Wreath Craft for Kids

*For a craft that takes longer, children can cut out the hearts themselves from paper by folding pieces of paper in thirds and drawing and cutting out the hearts. You can also choose to use the free hearts template piece of paper included at the bottom of this page. You may need to print 2-3 copies of the hearts sheet on different colors of paper in order to have enough hearts to cover your paper plate without white space showing through. Hearts look great when they are all one size OR all different sizes.

*For a quicker craft or a craft that is better for toddlers and younger children, you can prep the hearts ahead of time by drawing and cutting them out for the kids. Then all they will have to do is glue them all over and decorate their wreath.

*To complete your craft and turn it into a wreath, you will need one pipe cleaner or a piece of string. You can poke a hole in the top of your wreath and thread it through. This will be your hanger for your wreath.
