Fidget toys are a great item to help keep hands busy and minds focused on their task. They are a great addition to any home or classroom and these fidget toys for kids are great for helping kids calm their bodies by giving them something to do with their hands and bodies.
As a mom of four kids ages 8 and under, as well as a previous early childhood and kindergarten teacher, I’ve used tons of different fidget toys over the years. Many of the fidgets we’ve used have become some of our kids’ favorite toys, and they’ve been great for helping our kids calm their busy hands and bodies down.
These fidget toys made our list because of their different textures, movements, and ways to keep little hands busy. Some are better for quiet settings, while others are better for home or on the go. I’ve included fidgets we’ve personally used as well as options worth considering for many different ages and places.
Having four little ones with busy bodies, we found it essential to get items like fidgets for our kids to use at places like church, the car, in school (if allowed), at siblings’ sporting events, and more. They help keep their little hands, brains, and bodies busy and help keep them busy and occupied longer.

Best Fidget Toys for Kids
Best Overall Fidget Toy
Popper Toys
We love a good popper fidget, and not only do these give you something to do with your hands and fingers but they can also be learning toys as well, which makes them one of the top fidgets on our list. Many of the popper fidgets have numbers and letters on each popper space, but even if they don’t, you can pop and count at the same time.
We’ve also used our poppers for fun games like filling them with yogurt to make yogurt bites for our babies, filling them with water to make fun ice shapes, and more.
Popper fidget toys come in all different shapes, designs, and sizes, which is also a plus. You can get them small enough to fit in the palm of your hand or much larger for playing with at a sporting event or car seat. You can even get them in fun animal shapes, shaped like a ball and more.

Best Squishy Fidget Toy
Needoh NIce Cubes:
Our kids have all fallen into the Needoh craze and love these Needoh ice cubes. They are a soft silicone filled with a gel-type material that you can squish and squeeze with your hands. The gel cubes hold their shape really well. They are slightly harder to press and squeeze, but they work perfectly for little hands, as they do have some give to them. They come in tons of fun colors and designs.
You can find them in most stores and online, but they sell out quickly and are hard to find, so if you happen to be in a store that has some, be sure to grab them when you can! You can also find other versions of these nice cubes styles if the needoh ones are sold out but just know the texture or styles may be different.
In addition to the nice cubes, they also make great squishy fidget toys that feel similar. We’ve gotten squishy turtles and squishy balloon dogs that have a similar feel to them but are in stock. My kids love the super cute designs of these ones vs. the cube shape.

Best Quiet Fidget Toys
Tangle Fidget Toys:
We loved this type of fidget when I taught Kindergarten. It basically is made up of a bunch of connected plastic pieces that twist back and forth. You can tangle it up into a tight spiral or unwind it out to a loose, almost loop-like shape. Each plastic piece is a different color, and it is fun to tangle and untangle with your hands. They don’t make any noise and are perfect for keeping hands busy while listening to a teacher or during a quiet time.
Marble Mesh Fidget Toy
This is another great quiet one we used all the time when I taught Kindergarten. It comes with a mesh finger trap that is closed on both ends with a marble in the middle. You can push on the marble and the different sides of the finger trap to slide the marble from side to side inside the mesh piece. The marble doesn’t come out and the smooth motion of the marble keeps little hands busy. They come in fun colors and are the perfect quiet toy for busy hands.
Best Textured Fidget Toys
Textured Fidget Stones
These fun textured fidget stones come in many different colors and textures. They are usually made of silicone or plastic and are easy for hands to hold onto and run to feel the textures. They are calming and relaxing and allow kids to keep their hands busy but aren’t too distracting at the same time.
Stretchy Textured Silicone Strings
These silicone textured strings are a great item to play with and mold with your hands. They’re great for in church or a sibling’s sporting event. They come in a pack with many different colored and different textured strings. They’re all made of silicone, and they stretch in your hands. You can feel the different textures, stretch them, tie them together, and more. These are for slightly older children, however, as they can snap if you let go too hard.

Best Spinning Fidgets
Traditional Fidget Spinners
Traditional fidget spinners for kids are awesome for keeping hands busy. Kids hold the middle of the spinner in their thumb and middle finger and spin with one of their open fingers, typically. They spin pretty fast. They come in tons of colors and sizes. If your child is younger, be sure to get one of the smaller ones so their hand fits when spinning it. They even come with ones that have poppers built into the end or that stick to a window so they don’t have to hold it.
Transformer Fidget Spinners
These fun fidget spinners look almost like a spider or some kind of creature. They come with a larger middle area, and from the middle comes a bunch of long, typically plastic arms. These arms can be bent and turned in all different directions. It is basically a combination of a tangle fidget and a spinner fidget, and it gives little hands lots of ways to keep them busy.
Best Unique Fidget Toy
Morphing Fidget Toys
These fun morphing fidget toys transform before your eyes. They are made of a flexible material for bending, morphing, and reshaping. You push on certain parts of the fidget toy, and it morphs from a flattened shape to a more circular shape. The grid-like design feels cool on hands, and it’s super fun to play with and look at. Even I love playing with this one.
Best Fidget Toy for Young Kids
Tube Fidget Toys
We’ve had a pack of these tube fidget toys for our kids since they were one, and our youngest children played with them even earlier. These are basically long tubes made from plastic that bend and make noise when you use them. You can stretch them all the way out, connect them all together, spin them overhead ot make noise, talk into them for a fun voice, and more. They’re perfect for babies all the way up to big kids, as there are no small pieces and they’re fun for little hands to play with. We especially love them for the car seat. Just know that these ones are not a quiet fidget toy!
**Always check the manufacturer’s age recommendations and safety warnings before giving tube fidget toys to young children. Inspect them regularly for damage, and supervise play as appropriate for your child’s age to help ensure they’re being used safely.
Choosing the Right Fidget for Your Child and the Setting
Not every fidget toy is perfect for every place or setting. Same with every child. Some poppers and fidgets can be fun at home, in the car, or at a child’s sporting event, but not right for a quiet place like church or the classroom. Some may be too noisy or distracting for certain settings.
Every child is also different, so children may prefer certain types of fidgets over others. Some hands may be smaller, or squishies may be harder to squish, so you may need to try a few before you find favorites that are good for your children.
A quick safety reminder: Always check the manufacturer’s age range and safety warnings before choosing a fidget toy. Some toys contain small parts or may not be suitable for younger children. Inspect your toys regularly for damage and supervise children when using them if needed.

Fidget Toys Make Great Small Gifts
Fidget toys are a fun, affordable option for kids for tons of different reasons. They make great Christmas gifts, Easter basket fillers, birthday gifts, or little surprises just because. You can also use them as rewards for kids for things like potty-training or working toward a goal on a behavior chart. Kids will be so excited to receive them and right now fidgets and squishies are definitely trending with kids of all ages.
