Fun Keepsake Father’s Day Hat Craft
This fun Father’s Day hat craft makes the perfect keepsake craft for Dad or Grandpa this Father’s Day. Using your child’s handprints, stamp them around the base of a hat to create this adorable hat that Dad or Grandpa will love for years to come.
We made this super cute Father’s Day craft for both our Dad and Grandpa last year for Father’s Day, and they were a hit. They’ve been worn many times over the past year, and every time Dad wears it out and about, he gets comments on it.
It’s such an easy Father’s Day craft and makes the perfect Father’s Day handprint keepsake. It can be made by one child or multiple children as we did with ours.

Father’s Day Hat Keepsake Craft Tips for Success
- This fun Father’s Day craft can be made by one child. You can have them stamp just one handprint on the hat or do both handprints.
- You can also make this craft with multiple children. Have each child put down one handprint on the hat. Depending on the hat size and the hand size of the children, you can really fit anywhere from 3-5 handprints on the hat. We were able to fit 4 on Grandpa’s hat…one for each grandchild.
- You can use different colors of paint for each child or just have them all do their handprint in Grandpa or Dad’s favorite colors. Each child could also do their favorite color to make it more of a fun keepsake and help remember their favorite color at that age.

- Use acrylic or waterproof paint instead of washable paint to ensure durability.
- You can buy plain hats at most crafting stores. We purchased the ones that we used for this project at Hobby Lobby. You can also find plain hats available online here as well. We made ours on a baseball hat, but if you want to make it on a winter hat, that would look cute too.
- Once you’re finished with the handprints, you can choose to add writing on the hat as well. Either each child can sign their name, write their age, write the date, or write #1 Dad or Grandpa on the hat. It makes the perfect way to preserve the memories of how old they were when their hands were that little.
- This would make an awesome Father’s Day gift for Dad. It would also make a great birthday gift or Grandparents Day gift as well!
