Tips for Show and Tell Success

*Items that are brought in for school show and tell should be school and grade level appropriate. What is appropriate for 5th grade show and tell may be different than kindergarten show and tell. Be sure to check with your child’s teacher first if there is an item you are unsure about.

*Make sure that you are sending in an item that is easily transported to and from school by your child independently. If your child is unable to lift or carry their item on their own you can send in a photo or choose a different item.

*Items that get sent in for school show and tell should not be breakable or valuable. Children could lose or break things at school easily. If your child wants to bring in a valuable or breakable item you can have them take a photo and bring it in.

*Have your child practice sharing their item at home ahead of time. They can share to a stuffed animal, sibling, pet, or family member. This way they are ready and feel confident when it is their turn to share at school.

*Some common talking points your child can share about their items include:

      • Why they like their item
      • What makes their item special
      • Where they got their item
      • What their item does
      • What their item is
