Tips for Success

  • When making this fun penguin craft with younger children such as toddlers you can cut and prep all of the pieces ahead of time. Toddlers can then glue them on in the desired spots to make their penguin craft.
  • When making this craft with older children ages preschool and up you can draw the outlines of the paper pieces needed and kids can cut them out and glue them on. Older children ages around Kindergarten and up can draw the lines, cut them out, and glue them out on their own.
  • There are two main sizes of paper lunch bags. You can use the smaller brown lunch bag and one piece of black construction paper should be enough to cover your whole penguin. If you choose the larger brown lunch bag you will need two pieces of black construction paper to cover your penguin but you will have a larger puppet for play once it is completed.
  • This fun craft makes the perfect penguin craft for imaginative play. Finish your craft and children can put their hands inside of the lunch bag and use it for a puppet.
  • This craft goes great with books on penguins or when learning about Antarctic animals. Some of our favorite penguin books include “Tacky the Penguin,” the “Little Penguin” books, and the National Geographic Penguins books.
