Mummy Puppet Tips for Success
- For these mummy puppets, you will need a brown paper lunch bag, white paper strips, and yellow and black construction paper. You will also need scissors and a glue stick.
- When making these puppets, you will need paper strips about 1″ thick. You will need fewer paper strips if they are cut thicker than this and more if they are cut thinner than this.
- It is easiest to cut the paper strips the whole length of the paper and glue them this way. Then, once they are glued on, you can trim the sides right at the paper bag. This will ensure that they are even. You can also choose to cut them to the correct lengths and then glue them on. However, with them going on diagonally, it may be hard to get the edges to align this way.
- You can draw on or cut out and glue paper eyes. Cutting out and gluing the eyes on makes them pop more. Be sure to glue or draw the lines on before gluing down the paper strips, as you may cover part of them up slightly.
Mummy Puppet Halloween Craft
Materials:
- Brown paper lunch bag
- White, yellow, and black construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick
Directions:
- Cut out two black circles about the size of quarters for the eyes.
- Cut out two slightly smaller yellow circles for the insides of the eyes and glue them in the middles of the black circles.
- Glue the eyes to the bottom of the brown paper lunch bag. This will become the face.
- Cut paper strips about 1″ thick from a white piece of paper. You will need about one full sheet of paper full of paper strips.
- Glue paper strips to the bottom of the paper bag in diagonal directions. Be sure not to cover up the whole eyes (the very edges are fine). Some will go diagonally above the eyes, some below the eyes. Extra paper from the strips will hang off the edges of the bag when glued down.
- Trim the ends of the paper strips right along the edges of the bag so there are none hanging off.
- Repeat the process of gluing paper strips all down the length of the brown paper lunch bag. Glue them diagonal, overlapping, and more.
- Then repeat the process of trimming off the edges.
- Using a pen, draw on a little smile underneath the eyes to complete your mummy puppet craft.
