Mitten Handprint Craft Tips for Success
*Make sure to stamp your child’s handprints on a piece of paper and let it completely dry. Then you should draw the mitten outline afterwards. Do not attempt to draw the mitten outline and then stamp. This will not work as well.
*You can use acrylic paint or a stamp pad to stamp your child’s hand on a piece of paper. Use colors that complement each other and show up well. We like to use white acrylic paint on any color paper of choice for the mittens.
*Once your mittens are stamped and drawn, cut them out and glue them to a piece of paper. We like to use cardstock for the background paper to keep it sturdier. This will help it last longer if you plan to keep it as a fun keepsake.
*Once your mittens have dried, your child can decorate them. Have them add stripes (like shown), mitten cuffs, stars, circles, or even have them draw a favorite image on top of the handprint, like a unicorn. Kids will love being creative and decorating their mittens however desired.
*Once complete, you can choose to add on snowflakes and a cute saying like “warm heart, tiny hands,” or anything else desired.
*Younger children may need help cutting out their mittens, while older children may be a little more independent with this. Help children as needed.
