Show and Tell Tips for School from a Teacher

*Make sure that the item your child is bringing to share is appropriate for school as well as age appropriate. If you are unsure be sure to contact your child’s teacher and ask ahead of time.

*Your child should be able to carry their own show and tell item. Make sure the items aren’t too big or too heavy. This will make transporting the item to school a lot easier. Especially if your child rides the bus or will need to carry it in and out of school.

*If there is an item your child wants to bring in for show and tell and it is too difficult to bring in you can always send in a photo of the item instead. Photos work great for people you know, large items, valuable items, and more.

*Practice sharing your child’s item ahead of time at home with family members or to stuffed animals. This will help them know what to say when it comes time to share at school. Some great sharing points include:

        • Why they like their item
        • What is special about their item
        • Where they got their item
        • Their favorite thing about their item
