Digger Truck Craft for Kids

Feb 8, 2023

This digger truck craft is the perfect craft for little ones who love trucks. It is a great truck craft for toddlers, preschoolers, kindergartners, and more.

This digger craft is an awesome craft for any season as you can switch out what you put in the front of the digger. You can cut out or stamp hearts for a Valentine’s day craft, Easter eggs for an Easter-themed craft, shamrocks for a St. Patrick’s Day craft, pumpkins for a Halloween craft, and more.

This truck craft is also a great craft to teach shape recognition skills for toddlers as you can cut out the different shapes needed (rectangle for the base, square for the cab, oval for the wheelbase, circles for the wheels) and have little one’s name and practice the shapes.

Inspiration for this excavator craft came from craftingjeannie.com. You can head over to her site and find a great digger template to cut out and glue down instead of cutting out shapes freehand.

Digger Truck Craft for Kids Tips for Success

*For this project you should cut out a few different shapes to make the base of the truck. You will need a large rectangle, a large square, a smaller square with rounded edges, a large oval, four smaller circles, and two long rectangles.

*This makes a great seasonal craft as you can cut out or stamp different images into the lifting part of the digger. Pictured are hearts, pumpkins, and shamrocks. Other ideas might be Easter eggs, flowers, fireworks, turkeys, a Christmas tree, ornaments, snowflakes, and more.

Seasonal Digger Craft for Kids

*For the images in the back of the truck you can cut them out of construction paper as shown, stamp them (also shown) with paint, draw them, or use foam or regular stickers to make them.

*To add a fun painting activity have kids stamp the images into the lifting part of the digger. Use a toilet paper tube and bend it into a heart shape, Dip the end of the tube into paint and stamp it onto the paper.

*To make this project fun and add a cute pun, add the saying “I Dig You” to turn it into a fun Valentine’s Day project for kids.
