Paper Strip Easter Egg Craft Tips
- To make this fun Easter egg craft, you should start by cutting thin paper strips from construction paper in different colors. Try cute pastels and spring colors for a fun Spring themed Easter egg or have your child go with a combination of their favorite colors.
- When making this craft with younger children you will need to prep the paper strips and have them glue them down. You should also draw an egg outline on their craft both before and after gluing the paper strips down. Older children will be able to do this themselves with the help of a tracer stencil.
- Start by printing out a blank egg template on a piece of cardstock. This can be used as a tracer if working with multiple children or you can just have your child glue their paper strips on top of this egg template. You can find a great blank egg template here.
- All of the paper strips can be the same length as you will glue them down and then cut around the Easter egg shape. You may need to reinforce the edges with a little extra glue if they come up after cutting the outline out.
Easter Egg Craft For Kids
Materials:
- Blank Easter Egg template (follow the link above for one that will work)
- Construction paper strips in different colors
- Scissors
- Glue Stick
- Marker (optional)
Directions:
- Print out or draw an egg template on a piece of white paper or cardstock.
- Cut out tons of different paper strips in different colors. You will need anywhere from 10-30 to mostly cover your egg depending on how thin you cut them. They should be longer than the widest part of your egg template.
- Begin by gluing down one paper strip at a time across your egg template. Glue some straight across and some at diagonal angles. Make sure to alternate or switch colors so that two strips of the same color are not next to each other. You can leave a little bit of white space between each strip or overlap them so there is no white showing (it is personal opinion).
- Fill your egg all the way up with paper strips.
- Use a marker to draw or trace the egg template back on the top of the paper strips so that you are able to see the egg shape. Cut around the egg template to cut the egg shape out and complete your Easter egg craft.
