Halloween Witch Puppet Craft Tips

*When making these cute puppets you will need to use a paper lunch bag. You can make them with the smaller lunch bags or use the larger lunch bags if desire. The larger lunch bags will need more materials like construction paper so if you’re making them for a whole class or a large group you may want to use the smaller lunch bags.

**These adorable puppets are perfect for kids of any age. Depending on the age of the children you are working with you may have to help cut out the pieces or prep the construction paper pieces ahead of time. My 6 year old was able to cut out and decorate her bag completely on her own.

*To prep the construction paper pieces for preschoolers and younger children you should cut out the rectangle for the base of the bag as well as the rectangle for the head. You may also want to cut out the paper strips for the hair, the triangle for the hat, and the whites and blacks of the eyes to make it easier. Then they can do the gluing and drawing where instructed.

*Make sure to create your puppet craft using the bottom of the bag as the witch’s head. Then you can stick your hand in through the bag opening and use it like a puppet once it has been completed.

  1. Cut out 8 orange paper strips roughly 3-4″ long. Glue four to the top of each side of the witch’s head for the hair making sure to leave space in the middle for the witch’s face. You can slightly overlap the paper strips.
  2. Cut out a large black triangle for the hat. One of the sides should be just slightly longer than the length of the witch’s head. Glue the witch’s hat onto the top of her head over the tops of the orange paper so the hair is sticking out from underneath.
  3. Cut out an orange paper strip and glue it towards the bottom of the witch’s hat for a stripe decoration.
