Teacher Thank You Printable Tips

*Read each question to the child that you are completing this with, and have them come up with answers on their own if possible. Write down what they say word for word in their language. Teachers appreciate the answers that come from their heart (even if it doesn’t make 100% sense).

*If kids are really struggling to come up with answers or understand the questions, you might give them a list of examples. Usually though, kids will surprise you and really just need help brainstorming with phrases like “you tell me,” “Think really hard,” “what do you think,” “take your best guess,” and more.

*Younger children may need help filling out the answers. The adults can ask the questions, children can dictate what to say, and an adult can fill in the answer if they are unable to write and spell yet. They turn out funniest if you fill in exactly what the children say word for word. We’ve done questionnaires with our children as young as three, and they do great with them.

*As children get older, they will be able to sound out and fill in their answers on their own. Children as young as kindergarten are able to write answers on their own (but you may still have to read the questions to them). Teachers are amazing at reading kindergarten writing, so you can leave their spelling as is or write the correct spelling small underneath once they are done.

*When completing this sheet with multiple children, be sure to have them do it at different times or in separate spots from each other. If one says an answer out loud, changes are good that another will hear and want to use that same answer.

*When completed, you can glue the white piece of paper onto a colored construction paper or cardstock background and mount it to make it heavy duty. You could also roll it up and tie on a ribbon, tape it to the top of a present, or just hand it to a teacher.

*As a previous Kindergarten teacher, these questionnaires were one of my favorite things to receive from students. It was so fun to see the students’ perceptions of the school year and their perceptions of me. There were always some super funny and sweet answers. Because of this, we fill them out for our children’s teachers every year.
