Easy Summer Fruit Crafts for Kids

May 24, 2023

These summer fruit crafts include directions to make pineapple, orange, lemon, and kiwi crafts using just construction paper. They are easy to make and an excellent craft for kids of all ages.

To make these summer citrus fruits crafts you will need construction paper, scissors, a glue stick, a black marker or pen, and two bowls slightly different in size to use as tracers. All four of these fruit crafts use the same circular base. You can find other circular base crafts like these if you check out farm crafts for kids or under the sea animal crafts.

These summer fruit crafts for kids are a great way to teach shapes to younger children, learn colors, and learn about all the different fruits that grow in the summer time.

Tips for Success

*To make these summer fruit crafts for preschool, kindergarten, and younger aged children, you can prep the pieces you will need ahead of time. You can draw them and have them practice cutting skills, or you can draw and cut them out and have them glue the pieces together.

*For older children you can have them do all of the steps independently. You can model the craft and then children can go and draw, cut out, and glue together all of the pieces to make their summer fruits crafts.

*You can choose to make just one of these summer fruits if desired or you can have children make them all.

*To make the circular base you should use two bowls that are different sizes by just a small amount. I love to use toddler sized bowls as these make the perfect size circles.

Orange Craft Directions

 1. Use a bowl and trace a large circle out of tan construction paper.

2. Use a slightly smaller bowl and trace another circle out of orange construction paper.

3. Cut the orange circle into even sixths (you can fold it and cut on the fold lines to make these even).

4. Glue the cut orange circle sixths to the tan circle with a small amount of tan around the outside of each. This will make it look like orange slices.

5. Cut out two to five small white tear drop shapes and glue them to the inside of the orange slices for the seeds.

Kiwi Craft Directions

 1. Use a bowl to trace a large circle shape on green construction paper.

2. Use a slightly smaller bowl to cut a circle out of light green construction paper. Glue the smaller circle to the inside of the larger circle.

3. Cut out a hexagon shape from white paper about an inch in diameter. Cut the sides in a bit to make it almost look like a small star shape. Glue this to the inside of the kiwi.

4. Using a black marker add dots for seeds all around the white star shape.  Start with more dots near the center star and use less as you make your way out.

5. Cut out two to five small white tear drop shapes and glue them to the yellow sections of the lemon to make the seeds.

Pineapple Craft Directions

 1. Using a bowl trace and cut out a large yellow circle from construction paper.

2. Cut out skinny brown paper strips and glue them in a grid pattern onto the yellow circle.

3. Cut the paper strips so that they line up with the outside edges of the circle.

4. Cut out two small filled in letter M shapes (one slightly larger than the other) for the pineapple top. Glue the smaller one on top of the other and glue this to the top of the back of the pineapple.
