Easter Egg Potato Stamps Tips for Success

*An adult will need to create the Easter egg stamps first, as they will need to use a sharp knife or something to carve shapes into the potato. Cut the potato in half to start. Then carve out straight lines, zig-zag lines, or polka dots.

*You can dip the potato in a pile of paint, or you can paint each layer or stripe a different color. We like to do both ways, and both ways give a different look. We’ve dipped the potato in one color and stamped all the same color eggs. We’ve also swirled colors slightly together and dipped the potato in and on the paper for a tie-dye egg effect.

However, our favorite way to make these is to paint each strip on the egg a different color with the paint brush. This ensures that extra paint doesn’t pool in the cracks as well as gives each egg a fun and multi colored look. You can also paint all the layers the same color for more defined Easter eggs.

*You can use colors of your choice for this. To make the most realistic Easter eggs, we like to use pastel colors. Any acrylic paint should work well.
