Why Use A Halloween Countdown?

A Halloween countdown is a fun way to prep for the upcoming holiday. It helps to answer (and often eliminate) the every day and constant questions that kids ask about when a holiday is coming up.

Kids can look over at the Halloween countdown and count the days until the holiday. It is a fun and festive way to start celebrating early. It is also a great way to help learn forward and backward counting skills.

Halloween countdowns are perfect for kids of all ages and can be done at school or at home.

Tips for Using Halloween Countdown Printables

*There are four fun printables included in the free pack. Two of them are meant to be laminated and changed daily with a dry erase marker. You can print them on normal paper but I would recommend using cardstock for all four to help with durability.

If you don’t have access to a laminater you can also slide your cardstock printable sheet into a clear plastic binder sleeve. Amazon also has some awesome dry-erase sleeves that are made for kids to slide printables into that can be used and written on with a dry erase marker over and over.

If completing at home simply print off one copy of the printable of choice (or a copy per child to eliminate fighting). Keep it in a safe place where it can be marked off daily. We like to keep ours stuck to the fridge with a magnet. They also make great additions to a morning activity book if homeschooling.

*If completing with a classroom of kids print off a copy per student and put it into a morning work folder. Go through it first thing in the morning (or during a calendar time if you have one), fill it out, and mark off a number altogether. You could also print out a single copy and hang it on the wall. Then mark it together every morning.

Halloween Countdown Calendar

*There are two options here for Halloween countdown calendars. They are both almost the same with one difference: one of them has a space to fill in the number of days left until Halloween with a dry erase marker. The other one does not.

Simply print out, laminate if necessary (the one with the fill in the blank), and then each morning cross out the current day on the calendar. Count how many days are left until Halloween and fill the number in on the blank if there is one. Do this until you reach the last day on the calendar and it will be Halloween.

Backwards Halloween Countdown

*For this fun option it looks similar to the calendars but with one major difference: The numbers start at 31 instead of 1. This countdown printable is much easier to read because of it. It is easy to look at it and know exactly how many days are left until Halloween. Just cross one out each day starting on October 1st and when you get to the 1 it will be Halloween.

Halloween Countdown Recording Sheet

This Halloween Countdown sheet is a little different than the others. Begin by laminating your printout. For this one, you do not need to cross out days. You can start this countdown on whichever day you desire before Halloween.

Just figure out how many days are left until Halloween and write the number with a dry-erase marker in the blank. Then each morning erase the number and write the new number on the line. Do this until you get to Halloween.
