St. Patrick’s Day Cup Craft Tips for Success

  • For this project, you will need to cut a piece of green construction paper lengthwise. You should cut it to the height of your cup all the way down the paper. There will be space between the paper and the cup when you connect them, as most cups are slanted downward.
    • It may be a little difficult to get your paper to stay, as the cups are angled down. You should use tape to pull it tight at the top of the cup. There will be space left at the bottom, so when you grab the cup, you should be fairly careful.
  • Liquid glue works best for this craft, as you can use more and then let it dry. Glue sticks will not work well. You can also use a hot glue gun with parental assistance.
  • Younger children may need help connecting their pieces, as this project can be a little difficult with the space left under the paper.
  • When cutting and measuring the paper for the bottom of the cup, you should leave about an extra inch of space around the outside for the lip of the hat. How big you cut your circle will depend on which cups you use for your project.
  • We found that plastic solo cups worked best for us to use buy you can also choose to use styrofoam, dixie cups, clear cups, and more, depending on what is available to you.
