Apple Pie Fall Sensory Bin Set Up Tips
*When setting up this sensory bin you can use just oats or a mixture of oats and uncooked chickpeas. The chickpeas give a different texture and allow the children to count and play with different items. They are completely optional. If you feel like they don’t fit the theme of the sensory bin as well feel free to leave them out.
*The cinnamon sticks in this recipe make the apple pie sensory play smell amazing. Be sure to check if the children who will be playing with the sensory bin have any allergies to these (or to the oats) and leave them out or swap them out with another item if necessary.
*The oats and chickpea sensory base can be stored in a plastic bag and pulled out for use at another time (we’ve saved ours two years in a row to use and it stores just fine). Just be sure children do not try to ingest them if it is a saved sensory bin base.
*The recipe cards listed below include four different number options and are great for counting and number recognition skills. There is also an option included that doesn’t have the numbers on it. You can write in the numbers of choice for these ones. Print the recipe cards on cardstock to help make them more durable.
