Paper Plate Apple Craft Tips for Success
- You can prep for this craft ahead of time with younger children or have older children do the prep work on their own as part of the craft. You will need to rip a bunch of small red, green, or yellow scraps of paper for the outside of the apple for prep.
- Ripping paper is great for motor skill development so you can also have younger children do this craft in two parts. Cut paper strips and have children rip the paper strips into small scraps one day and put the rest of the craft together the next.
- You can make this craft with either red, green, or yellow paper scraps for the apple. Red is the traeditional apple color but you can also make a green or yellow apple. It would also make a great lesson on apples if you talked about and taste tested the three colors of apples. Then let kids use ripped paper that is the same as their favorite color apple to complete their project.
- You will need to use a scissors to cut out a brown rectangle for a stem, a green rectangle for a leaf, and brown seed shapes for the seeds. Make sure to use a light brown so that the marker or crayon will still show up on the seed when you write your child’s letters. You will need one seed for each letter in their name.
- We typically recommend the standard paper plates but you will need to use a paper plate that is white so that the inside of the apple is more realistic.
