Making Snow Ice Cream Tips for Success
- When making snow storm ice cream you need to be sure to use freshly fallen snow. Check that the snow is white, hasn’t been stepped on and matted down, and is as clean and fresh as possible.
- The recipe below is a favorite for our family and we’ve made it over and over again. Depending on the age of the children we are making it for we may adjust the sugar levels (the younger the children the less sugar we put it for ours). We’ve made it with both 1 tsp of sugar and 2 tsp of sugar but 2 tsp of sugar is our favorite.
- Some common adjustments that people have suggested include using an extra tsp of sugar or an extra 1/8 tsp of vanilla. This will give it a stronger flavor. It has also been suggested to add in a tsp of sweet and condensed milk as well. We love the flavor of the recipe below but feel free to try out some of the suggestions if you think it lacks flavor.
- Kids will love making this one on their own or with very little help. Let them measure and scoop to help them learn about cups, teaspoons, and more. They will love taking the lead on this one and it is the perfect recipe as it only serves one person so they can make their own.
- We grab the cupfuls of snow and bring them inside to make it. However, the snow melts quickly once inside so make it fast if you do it this way. You can also measure out the milk, sugar, and vanilla and bring the bowls of this outside. Then mix the snow in and eat it outside.
- Sprinkles are listed in the ingredient list as we love to add them every time we make it but it is not necessary. Just a fun addition!
