Show and Tell Tips from A Kindergarten Teacher
*Be sure to send in an item that is both school and grade level appropriate.
*Show and tell item should be small enough that it can fit in your child’s backpack or a canvas bag and light enough that your child is able to carry it on their own.
*Have your child practice what they are going to share about their show and tell item ahead of time. Some ideas of things that they might want to share about their item include: Why their item is special, where they got their item, what their item does, why they like their item, what their item is, and more.
*Don’t send in any valuable or breakable items for school show and tell as items can get damaged or lost when brought into school. If your child really wants to bring in an item and you are afraid of it getting broken or lost you can take a picture of your child’s item and have them bring in the picture instead.
*Some items on the list may need teacher approval (such as snack items to share if there are allergies, visits from family or pets, items that parents may need to bring in for children, etc…). Be sure to check with your child’s teacher if these items are acceptable or possible to bring in.
