Easter Scavenger Hunt Set-Up Tips
*This Easter scavenger hunt should be set up ahead of time by putting the clues in the right places and the prize at the end (if you include one for the hunt). You can put the first clue in an Easter-themed book that you are planning on reading together, set it in a spot where children will easily see it and wonder what it is, or just bring it out and give it to your children. See the list below to know where to put the rest of the clues:
Starting clue: In the back of an Easter book, in an easily seen spot, or just given to the children
- In the washing machine
- In a bathtub/shower
- Inside one of your child’s shoes
- In a mixing bowl in the kitchen
- Taped to the back of a family picture or in a family photo book
- In your child’s pajama drawer/shelf
- Taped to the bottom of a table
- Behind a large wall clock or alarm clock
- Underneath a pillow or covers in bed or hidden under the bed
- Hide this one in one of the places mentioned above and put a bag of treats, an Easter activity/coloring book, or materials for a fun Easter themed craft with it.
*When setting up this Easter scavenger hunt in our house we always like to add a fun treat bag or prize at the end. Children are so excited to finish the hunt and find a prize waiting at the end for their hard work. This activity is also an awesome one for learning how to follow directions, working on number order, working on teamwork (if multiple children are involved), and more.
Some ideas for a fun surprise at the end of the Easter hunt include Easter baked goods or treats, Easter board books or themed kid’s books, Easter coloring pages (perfect for a low-budget hunt), Easter stickers, fun party favors like rings/jewelry, a cute Easter outfit or PJ set, and Easter basket or filled eggs, or even materials for a fun Easter themed craft to complete together.
This Easter scavenger hunt would make the perfect activity for a countdown to Easter event. It would also be great on a rainy spring day or at an Easter party where kids are attending (a grandparent’s house or extended family gathering with cousins and other kids would be a fun place for it).
