Nugget Couch VS. Costco Play Couch: Play Couch Reviews
Are you in the market for a play couch and trying to decide between buying a Nugget play couch or the Costco Yourigami play fort and couch? This honest Nugget couch vs Costco play couch review will share all of the similarities and differences between each play couch, as well as reasons to choose each couch.
As a Mom of 4 kids under the age of 7, we have purchased and owned both of the play couch options for quite some time now. Below is a list of comparisons and descriptions of the two play couches to help you decide which is the right choice for your family.
Our play couches are some of our most used items during the cold winter months, and I would highly recommend purchasing one (or both) play couches if you have young children (we actually have three different play couches for more configurations and fun). Play couches make great crash mats, forts for building, an extra bed, obstacle course pieces, cozy movie night spots, and more.
Currently, we own and use our Nugget couch, a Member’s Mark Play couch, and a Costco Yourigami play couch/fort on a daily basis. All three of these allow us to make huge forts and obstacle courses for our kids. For more play couch comparisons, be sure to also check out our Nugget couch VS. Nugget Couch Vs. Costco Play Couch Dupe
Both the Nugget Play Couch and Costco Yourigami play couch are awesome purchases for those with kids. We own both and are very happy with them. Overall, the Nugget play couch is the best quality and most stylish play couch, while the Costco play couch and fort has the best options for building different structures and is better for those on a budget.
There are some big differences in styles between these two play couches, as one is marketed more as a play fort but doubles as a play couch. However, overall, they go great when used together, both come in lots of color options, and they both make great forts, cozy couches, obstacle course pieces, and more.
Our Nugget play couch purchase came first. When we purchased it, we found we loved the fun pieces, the soft microfiber material, and the fact that you could use it in so many different ways around the home. Our kids would build towers with it and jump off, build forts, use it for cozy spots for movie nights, and even use it as a bed in our room when one was sick. Our kids love it so much, and it quickly became one of our most used and most played with toys in our home.
After owning our Nugget play couch for a few years, we decided we wanted another couch to minimize the fighting over it, as well as allow many more configurations and ways to play with it. The Nugget couch was a splurge and overall pretty expensive, so we searched for less expensive options and landed on the Member’s Mark Play Couch. We then loved that one so much as well and wanted even more configurations, so we ended up purchasing the Costco Yourigami play couch and fort.
While the Yourigami play couch and fort is quite different compared to the Sam’s Club Explorer Couch and the Nugget play couch (which are very similar), we love it and think it adds well to our play couch collection. It comes with more pieces and gives kids a chance to make different structures than they might with the other two play couch options.
The Costco play couch and fort is marketed more as a fort. It comes with 12 pieces in all: two large foldable pieces (one with two different shape cushion inserts), two large square pieces with two more shaped cushion inserts, two smaller rectangular pieces, and two triangular pieces. The Nugget Couch comes with four pieces in all and includes two large foldable pieces (one slightly thicker than the other) and two triangular pieces.
Both play couches are made with foam cushions and covers. The Nugget couch comes in many different types of materials, but the original is microfiber, while the Yourigami play couch/fort cover is made from polyester and Nylon. Both covers can be removed and washed.
The Nugget couch foam is a bit firmer, while the Costco couch foam has a bit more give to it. This makes it slightly less sturdy for building and jumping on; however, there isn’t a large noticeable difference in the firmness.
The Nugget couch pieces are slightly larger and weigh more, while the Costco Yourigami play fort pieces are lighter and easier for kids to lift and move around on their own.
Overall, we love our Nugget couch and would purchase more for more configurations if we had the extra money to spend. It is stylish, makes a great playroom couch, and is the perfect play piece for kids. However, the Yourigami play couch gives us even more options for tents and play.
If you are looking for a stylish play couch, the Nugget is the best choice, while the Costco Yourigami couch is better for those looking for a more versatile toy/fort option for playing with (as well as better for a budget).
